OutSystems will provide PolyU CPCE students with comprehensive training, certifications, and learning materials that enable them to build creative web applications. Utilising OutSystems' high-performance low-code platform and development tools, the training will cover areas such as user interface development and modeling data relationships to help students develop relevant skill sets, understand the fundamentals of low-code application development and gain experience in system development. The course, namely, "Training on low-code using OutSystems", will be implemented over two phases, with the first phase targeting students and the second phase providing training to teaching staff. Learners who pass the examination will receive an official OutSystems certificate.

"As we encounter a worldwide shortage of software engineers, low-code technology can bridge the gap within the current workforce as it allows for anyone to become a developer. We are proud to be able to assist the next generation of developers at PolyU CPCE to realise the potential of low-code in solving real world problems, ultimately guiding them to better understand workflow simplification," said Mark Weaser, Vice President for Asia Pacific, OutSystems. "As a leader in high-performance low-code development, OutSystems has been at the forefront of ensuring that future generations are well prepared to contribute to the future workforce. We encourage students and universities in the region to seek out low-code development to further enhance their skills and knowledge."

"PolyU CPCE endeavours to connect leaders in different industries so as to offer opportunities to our students and staff to upgrade their knowledge and keep abreast of new technologies," said Dr Jason Chan, MH, JP, Associate Dean (Development) and Head of Information Technology of PolyU CPCE. "Our collaboration with OutSystems will equip our students and staff with ample knowledge of cutting-edge app development technologies and ultimately enhance their competitiveness," he added.

Additionally, OutSystems will work with PolyU CPCE to organise a 12-hour coding hackathon event on campus, where students can apply what they have learned in the low-code training to create and share innovative app ideas that solve real-world problems. OutSystems will provide support in designing the goal, rules and promotion materials of the hackathon, as well as providing administrative support and sponsorship of prizes.
